Hip hey a giveaway

I apologize the not-so-imaginative title, but getting something to rhyme with giveaway seemed to be a hard task this Monday, so we will go with hip hey now. Sorry. But I was going to talk about something else too - have you noticed that September is almost over? Just two more days, and we are greeting October! Feels unbelievable as our weather has been just as good (and better!) than in June&July, sun shines and days are warm and pretty. I have tried to get myself into mood for mittens and stockings, with very little result... One Christmas-stocking done (and it was a custom order, so I am not giving that away, sorry, just read a bit further, please):

I really should be knitting and felting mittens for my shop stock now, and just as every year around this time, I go through my wool stash for inspiration. This time I found a lovely ball of green-blue-violet wool. The colors slide beautifully without making actual stripes, and I thought that would make a lovely pair of mittens, first for this fall. Before I started knitting I still weighed the ball as it seemed quite light and to my surprise annoyment (is that a word?) there was too little wool for a pair. I then remembered that last year already I had made some designing&calculations for fingerless mittens and...

A first ever pair was done! And they turned out pretty pretty, but I might want to make a few changes to the design still, so this happy pair needs a new home! It was knitted from that green-blue-violet wool mentioned earlier, and they were then decorated with needlefelted white flowers.

So what a better way to start this mittens-season, than a giveaway! So to be won is a pair of fingerless mittens (we call them kämmekkäät here but let's forget that as I know there are a dot or two too many on top of those a's for some of your liking), they are 100% wool, and guaranteed to keep your hands and wrists warm. These could be used on their own or over mittens or gloves for extra warmth. So of you think your hands (or friend, family, neighbour, co-worker, bus driver) would need this pair to keep their hands warm now or later this coming winter, please leave a comment to this post with your name/nickname/anything you can be recognized if you should be a winner! I will pick up (randomly by number generator or the old fashion way by cutting the names from paper and shaking them in a jar) after a week, on October 5th 2015. I will ship this pair anywhere so everyone's welcome to participate. Best of luck, everybody, and

Happy last days of September!

Yours,
Mia

P.S. Photographing this pair's colors was really hard, and I think they should look a tad darker and more warm-toned, but I wish you will love them anyway. Size-wise these are women medium-large, and from top to down 20,5cm/8" and width is approx.10cm/3.9". But as said, these can be worn over gloves too, so the size is not just-just, wool adjusts easily.

I know, September is almost gone,I can't quite believe it either!! The weather has been so lovely here too, I think we've been fooled into thinking that it's still (or even the beginning of !!!!)summer. Let's hope the sun keeps shining for us all though, I for one won't complain!
Have a lovely week my friend and a very sunny October!

This time of the year...

Usually around this time, when children go back to school, and you can just about to smell the autumn, I start to dig deeper in my fabric...
