December 23rd

My wonderful mother-in-law gave us a new Christmas china, and it's about to get it's first party tonight! I have used our red-taika tableware in previous Christmases, but as we use the mugs every day, it's not the most festive choice. And now I have my very own special china for Christmases to come, I love it!

My new precious china has little elves on it, and some pretty branches with little glitter... It's dark here already but with my plates shimmer... And tree is in, the scent is divine, and the Christmas-decoration boxes are out too. Welcome all baubles, snowmen, old and new elves, bunnies, stars and hearts...

...You'll see it on its glory tomorrow! Now I am off to enjoy this special night, lovely 4th Advent to you all!

Yours,
Mia

We're very close now, and the house is starting to look festive too. Little something here and there...

... while getting the last bits of the cleaning done...

... in sunshine! A perfect day.

December 21st

It's Friday and 21st - only a few days left! My to-do-list is an arm-long, so I will just show you my snowman-thing today, and then I'm off to clean-wrap-bake and enjoy!

It's a Christmas mood-board which today is more of a beautiful card-display! I carried it from upstair (my working space) to downstairs to get a little more light to these images... Thankfully it's the Winter Solstice today, so tomorrow we'll have so much more light...

The board is made similarly than this, just the boards is a bit larger this time and the string is silk-ish light blue ribbon. Otherwise this was again the quickest make, and the fabric and ribbon can be re-used for something else after the holidays as I used the pushpins to keep everything together.

Thank you friends near and far for these beautiful Holiday-greetings!

Happy 21st!

Yours,
Mia

December 20th

I was planning to show that happy snowmen-thing today, but as I had the most wonderful aunties-little-helper visiting me today, and we made some delicious and rather festive cookies, I decided to share these with you instead:

...do you still remember how little helper I had a few years ago - here he is 2010, time really flies...

...all the hard work done, and the fun is just about to begin...

..and these wonderful creations got their inspiration from his favorite game, Angry Birds "Bad Piggies" and Angry Birds Star Wars...

...these next ones are so Princess Leia, don't you think?

We had a wonderful day!

Lovely 20th!

December 19th

Hello dear friends!

It's the 19th (already!), and it's time to announce the giveaway winners - thank you all so much for participating! I want to apologize the picture-quality beforehand already, I wanted to wait until the evening of 19th so everyone, who wanted to take part had time to leave a comment, and in the evening...there's no light what so ever around here as you well know (because I moan, sorry). But this said I managed to pick three winners after all...drumroll please...

...some vigorous shaking...

..and first winner is...

Megumi! Congratulations! She said: " Mia,  You are very generous..." (Thank you, Megumi!) And as she didn't specify what of the three prizes she would love to get, I will be contacting her first, and she can choose. Then I'll be contacting...

... Heartsease54!  She said: "... I wouldn't mind having any of these, but I love the purse..." After I have spoken to Megumi, I'll be in touch with you, and we'll see what I'll be sending to you! Congratulations! And the third winner...

...Bethbutcher! Cogratulations! She wrote: "... I think my favorite is the red bag at the top but they are all beautiful :) " Thank you, Beth, I'll be in touch soon!

... Here they all are, the three winners - I'll be sending the little parcels out as soon as possible! And I am sure you all loved the snowmen-fabric I used as backround...

...isn't it merry? More about it tomorrow, it's part of my Christmas-decoration this year!

Happy 19th!

Yours,
Mia

December 18th

Christmas - what a great excuse to enjoy all thing wonderful! Like chocolate, which we might have started finished a few boxes already, and I really need to get rid of the evidence re-cycle the empty boxes. Hmmmm...

Enter the pretty (snowman)wrapping paper, scissors and double-sided tape! I remember making this in my childhood, we used to make these keepsake boxes around the holidays...

...this time it is for less special yet very important things, especially this time of the year: the tealights! Happy, quick and easy project. If only I had more boxes to decorate...  *nom-nom-nom* soon I will...

Happy 18th!

Mia

P.S. The Christmas-giveaway still on here until the 19th! Welcome!

December 17th

With this morning's paper we got the TV-guide until 25th already! After a shock of "is it that late yet?" I took a look, saw some classics (for our Christmas at least) and I thought to share a few. Take a look, please, and who knows, maybe you're watching one or two same:

On 24th
-The Snowman, a true cry-sure classic (have you seen Jane's wonderful Snowman-wrapping-paper?)
-Jiminy Cricket's Christmas, we've watched this every year since 1986 or so, and Donald Duck wrapping the presents cracks us up every year. This also is on the evening when children (and me) have opened the presents, and the wonderful meal has been enjoyed. A few snores here and there might be heard...

On 25th
- Wonderful life, a classic also, and I think I almost know the lines by heart
- Downton Abbey (I might need to record this and enjoy it later, we're finally on season 3, and I can't miss any episode Christmas or not)

Around 26-28th
- Cyrano de Bergerac (with Gerard Depardieu naturally), it's the series of 8 episodes or so and they need to be watched one after one. You can do something else like knit/eat chocolate/nap but you need to get a climpse of each episode (even I know these lines by heart too)

...and then there are the DVD's like Love Actually (a must see before Christmas with my Sis), Keeping Up Appearences Christmas Specials, Hercule Poirots's Christmas and the favorites of the small ones like Curious George A Monkey Christmas and Maisy's Christmas.

What are your must-sees?

Lovely 17th of December, only a week now!

EDIT. Giveaway still on here until the 19th! Welcome!

This time of the year...

Usually around this time, when children go back to school, and you can just about to smell the autumn, I start to dig deeper in my fabric...
