Planning, sorting and keeping

I think you already know, how I (love to) keep all sort of things I may never use (just in case)? It does not mean, though, that I wouldn't have plans for those things, but I have. I just cannot find the time to put them into practice. I have so many fabrics, buttons, trims, yarns and other cute, beautiful and fun stuff I would love to use at some point.

Sometimes I use things from my stash, and it makes me very happy. There and then keep wondering that maybe I have kept (some of) it for a reason. Like this little coin purse I made for a very special 8-year-old for her birthday. I have many of these Maisy-paths (cut from old and used fabric baby-books) and I have dreamed of making these pouches for a long time. It didn't take that much time (really, it was quick) and it turned out cute too.

We're starting a major renovation in our little house in a few weeks. Whole upstairs gets re-done, I mean everything. That also means my stuff being sorted out, packed and stored somewhere for that time. I'll be able to work in downstairs (and I'll get a brand new working space upstairs) but I need to let a lot of stuff go. Seriously. But maybe I just keep my Maisy-patches still?

They're too darn cute.

Yours,
Mia

They are so cute Mia! I love the little tape measure tab on the side, such a good idea. :)
Good luck with the renovations!
Sun is still shing here. :)

Thanks, Viv!

I dread and wait the renovations at the same time. I hate living in building site so to speak for some weeks but the result should be worth it. I'll definitely show you my working space later...

Happy and sunny day!

Yours,
Mia

I still have a maisy purse form when my daughter was small- she is now 10- can't let go of it, Lucy Cousins is a great artist!

Hi Kerry!

I would cherish something like that too! We have very rare Maisy things in sale here in Finland, some books yes and DVD's but that's just about it! I actually already made up my mind to keep these patches, who knows I even manage to use more of them later?

Have a happy day!

Yours,
Mia

Very sweet purses Mia. I am like you having a huge stash but mine is of endless beads. There is always a use for everything and even things I have nearly thrown away prove useful, even years later!

Your renovations sound great but as you say always so disruptive. The end result is the thing to focus on!

Enjoy your evening,
Love Jane x

Thanks Jane,

I try to keep my thoughts on the finished space (those new floors and cabinets and and...) but I know I'll be cranky while the work is done. But I have done this once before (when we moved in and did downstairs and little work in upstairs) and I know it doesn't last forever( just feels like it!). I try to think it's like camping when we sleep in our living room next to fireplace - maybe we'll toast some marshmallows...? :)

Have a great day!

Yours,
Mia

They are super cute and it's a BRILLIANT idea for using fabric baby books (I also, especially live the detail of the tape measure tab).

All lovely stuff as always :)

Thank you Beth, so much!

I have used similar baby-book patches of the Moomins for bags (making outer pockets of them) and they been quite liked. This pouch-idea came to me a while ago, and I might make some more - unused time, anyone?

Have a wonderful day!

Yours,
Mia

funnily enough, I believe I worked on the original cloth books many years ago. I love Lucy's a/w, it looks sweet in this guise.

oh, that sounds lovely! we have these (Maisy and others) less and less here in Finland, one or two for babies (and not that pretty ones). I think they do not sell this Maisy-book here any longer either as I found mine while thrifting in local fleamarkets.

Happy day!

Mia

This time of the year...

Usually around this time, when children go back to school, and you can just about to smell the autumn, I start to dig deeper in my fabric...
