Latest from the winter wonderland

When we woke up this morning, it was here. The first snow. Last year it did arrive a month earlier, so I was (hopelessly I agree) wishing that is might not arrive at all. Didn't work, and it's getting colder too so this may be a keeper.

Oh well, there are only 39days until Christmas (I am shocked, actually) so little whiteness and brightness is actually a good thing. Somehow I have missed whole festive-thing this month, and last week I spent sneezing, coughing and worrying the list of needs-to-be-done-asap lengthening by the minute. I have been lucky to get many, many custom orders pouring in, but a week of illness wasn't on any of my lists. That said I have been making a great progress in last days, and I should be making many piles like this as we speak:

But, as you may have guessed already, I have gone astray again! And for a good reason, too, or what say you?

I have a new book! A book of Christmas balls! Knitted C-balls! I know - that's insanely wonderful! Check these out:

There was one pattern with the cutest pig on it too but just in case someone reading this blog might wish that for Christmas I do not want to spoil the surprise so hush...

I am in love! There are 55 (yes, fifty and five) patterns in that book, and I seriously want to try them all! The wonderful designer-duo was in Finland a few weeks ago, appeared in our morning television, and I ordered the book almost immediately. It took a while to arrive but it was so worth the wait. I will show you some beautiful Christmas-balls later... After I have finished the things in my list. I better hurry or the balls will be for Christmas 2012 - the list is still pretty impressive.

Happy week, dear friends and we'll talk soon again!

Yours,
Mia

P.S. Thank you all so much for your congratulations, mails, cards and presents concerning my news on last post! We're amazed by your kindness, truly touched and still happily married!

Dear Mia, Well it's finally arrived for you and yes the snow just makes everything SO festive. I must admit though, much as I enjoyed our snow last year I would not want it to be around for the whole season!! You have been so busy and I am so sorry that you have not been well? I am glad you are feeling much better. As for the knitted Christmas balls wow, how fab they are....(I did not read anything about pigs, honest ;0)I did smile at those 2 men on the front cover!!!
I am glad to hear that you are STILL happily married after your first few weeks and wishing you many, many many happy weeks ahead of wonderful married life.
Keep warm and keep those needles clicking, I can almost hear them from here!
Take care my dear friend, in your winter wonderland,
Jane x

What a relief you're still happily married!! ;)
Hope you're feeling much better and ready for all the knitting that needs doing!
SNOW!! I really don't want snow, after last year when we had enough to last for the next ten years!
Your book looks brilliant, I'm really loving all this nordic knitting that is about at the moment.
Stay warm and cosy Mia,

Hi Mia,

Loved your update on married life and knitted Christmas balls and snow!!
I had never heard of "Arne and Carlos" before ( I took a peek at the on-line bookstore). 55 pretty balls; I bet you'll have fun making some.

Our snow will be here THurs. and Friday. I'm happy you are feeling better.
Take care of yourself and Mr N!! Thank goodness you are still happy with each other. (-:

Dear Jane,

I actually was thinking of you and that snow-storm-engagement-party last year when I saw the snow. I am not too keen to have it here either, it makes biking hard and...when it starts to pour, there's just too much of it. But C is getting closer and I am feeling better and everything seems rosier now :)

Have a wonderful week and we'll talk soon again!

Yours,
Mia

Hello dear Vivienne,

The flu is almost gone so I am tackling the festive things as we speak - and Nordic patterns will definitely be a hit this year here too :)

Wishing you a beautiful week, hopefully you'll see the sun too!

Yours,
Mia

Hi dear Anne,

The guys are from Norway, but I didn't know them either before a few weeks back. They're (mostly knitwear)fashion designers and their Christmas bauble patterns are just adorable :)

Have a great week, and I hope the snow is not getting to you too badly :)

Yours,
Mia

Dear Mia, I'm kind of touched to see your first snow even it makes me feel cold! But it brings light, too!
Your new book look really exiting! I'm waiting to see what you will knit from it!
Warm hugs! xxx Teje

Thank you, Teje!

The last little bits of snow are still here (it's Thursday now) and it's very slippery outside but otherwise beautiful! I am dreaming of your sunny and pretty weather...

Happy weekend soon!

Mia

Oh Mia, snow already! It does look very pretty and light though doesn't it? I really love those knitted baubles with the red and white nordic style that I love to have around me at Christmas. Think I may just have to order that book and get knitting some too! I'm so glad to hear that you are still happily married, that is very good news!! Have a lovely weekend.

Hello dear Helen,

We've had more snow today and oh yes (after a first shock) it really makes nature more beautiful! And the baubles...I think those knitted ones will be family heirlooms! The book is great and pattern seem easy and colors can be adjusted by everyone's Christmas taste!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Yours,
Mia

Hello dear Robin,

It was a hard to get ill just after we got home but at least I wasn't ill when we had the celebrations! I think it was all the stress and secret-keeping that finally got me :) I'm great now, busy bee but well.

I wish you a wonderful weekend and happy knitting! I'd love to make some C-coasters, I'll email you soon about them!

Yours,
Mia

So pleased to see you're feeling better Mia - and such a great book you've found there! I think once we've got used to the fact that it is winter, we'll get used to it. But it's so hard. Good job we have Christmas to help us through it.
Have a great weekend.

Hi dear Pam,

It's so true: we simply NEED Christmas to get through winter! After it there's only a horrid month of January and then it's almost spring again!

Have a wonderful weekend and happy crafting - and hopefully some sunshine too!

Yours,
Mia

This time of the year...

Usually around this time, when children go back to school, and you can just about to smell the autumn, I start to dig deeper in my fabric...
