So last century

Once upon a time in a tiny thrift shop a pretty green jacket was put up for sale. It was beautiful autumny-colored wool, but with larger than life padded shoulders and very dated boxy-shape it wasn't drawing that much of an attention even the colors were really, really beautiful. Until one day...

I spotted the jacket and couldn't resist it. I saw past the dynasty-shoulderpads, the nametag with word game on it (how 80s is that?), and focused on its beautiful wool, the impeccable condition and to the fact that it's made in Finland. But to be honest I wasn't loving it as a jacket as much as...

...perfect material for my autumn-collection to grow! You may remember these pouches, and more happy tweets with big pumpkins and leaves here!

So far I have made a pretty tote bag:

and a cute birdie&big pumpkin key ring:

and a set of pretty birdie&leaf coasters:

And there's still a lot of material left for yet some more beautiful creations. I am one happy girl!

Happiness to your Thursday too!

Yours,
Mia

P.S. It seems that I am posting this week more than last two months together, and these new posts keep pushing the giveaway post further and further down, so a little reminder here: If you haven't yet posted a comment on my coasters-giveaway post, there's still plenty of time! The winners will be picked on Sunday October 9th! Thank you!

What a really good use of an eighties coat (I did love the '80's though)!
The colours are very autumnal and your pumpkins look lovely on it. :)
Happy Thursday Mia (guess what it's raining),

Hi Viv,

I STILL love eighties, and oh yes, I did try that jacket on too! It was too krytlecarrington even for my liking though :)

Happy Thursday and guess what, it rains here too...

Mia

Mia, I just peeked in your shop and saw these new designs. Now I know where the fabric came from; perfect!! Quite the '80s coat; just right for autumn.

I hope you can make many more things with the fabric/coat.

Still good weather here but I know the cold is coming soon.)-:

Dear Anne,

I am so happy you have a great weather, here it's rainy and gray (some would say miserable!). But colors outside on trees and bushes are pretty and they're beautiful inside too as I am working with more autumny colors... Happily!

Have a wonderful Thursday and yippee, it's weekend soon too!

Yours,
Mia

Thank you, Helen!

I am always walking around my eyes searching clothes to upcycle, and I already have one jacket waiting for Christmas things, it's beautiful red&green...It makes me happy when I can create something without anything (only the thread) new!

Have a wonderful weekend, sunshine and happy crafts!

Mia

Thank you, Robin!

I love recycled items, and oh, it might just be me, but many of older clothing seem to have such a great material (better than today) which hasn't dated a bit. You just need to look behind the designs!

Have a wonderful weekend, it's Sat morning here and no rain so far, yippee!

Mia

I missed a giveaway - see that's what happens when you get behind in your blog reading - serves me right!

What a fabulous set of goodies you have created from the jacket, really lovely and very autumnal. Hope you are still enjoying some sunshine in these crisp colder days, we are still having some very odd weather here in the UK but it is finally turing a bit more chilly.

Hi Beth!

There will be an another giveaway before Christmas still, and you'll be jumping right in :)

It's VERY cold here, during the night some minus degrees already, and snow has been promised (read: threaten) to be seen this week, eek!

Wishing you many happy and sunny moments this week!

This time of the year...

Usually around this time, when children go back to school, and you can just about to smell the autumn, I start to dig deeper in my fabric...
