Jingle bells

Is it too early? Of course not.
I am now officially on Christmas mood - and those Moomins will be part of the plan.

... to be continued...

Lovely handmades - for me only!

I am feeling much happier now than I was when I posted last time. I am still thinking and dreaming (and even planning) my crafts-only-life, though, but much calmer sort of way. And I keep enjoying handmade prettiness - making, selling and buying it.

Oh yes, I have purchased some beautiful stuff. Some from etsy, some from dawanda and some found via flickr. I am going to show all them here starting from the latest perfection that arrived yesterday!

Let me introduce you Mia the Mouse:

She was little shy at first, being away from home and all, but it only took a minute. Her wonderful and talented creator Shelley from The Beauty is in a Detail had trained her well for the journey: she soon was exploring her new home and wanted to see upstairs too.

She jumped up the stairs to see my crafting space as she knew, that she would be spending most of her time there with me. I am now off to show her around - thank you still once Shelley!

You can see more of Shelley´s beautiful work here and purchase her wonderful handmades here! And oh, she also made me the most beautiful corsage - to match my clothing and Mias´s stripes - all pink! Thank you so much, Shelley, you made my day!

Have a lovely Saturday!

Yours,
Mias

Warning: Contains moaning

Oh, it has been weeks since I last posted. It is not that I don´t have things to write, quite the opposite: it seems that I have too many things in my mind (and my table) at the moment. I try to knit, sew, felt, decorate and promote my stuff all the same time (plus maintain my daily job, keep the house habitable and my family if not happy, close to that) and I am tired. The piles of felts, ready-cut fabrics grow...

I would love to have a creative way of living and only that. It´s not that I´d hate my current daily job, no, it just disturbs my crafts badly. I would love to have my days and weeks organized around my knitting needles and sewing machine (which I just purchased new, hooray, about that later) and deliveries and photo shoots. Now all that needs to be done during the evenings and weekends, and it leaves me no free time at all. Which is alright for a while but...

Is there anybody out there who struggles with these same problems? I would love to hear your ways of coping - and how did you take that last step and jumped (out of daily work, that is). What did it take? How are you doing now?

***

I am so sorry about all that moaning. There are so many things that make me happy also: This fall has been so much better than summer was, sunny and rain-free. I also got that sewing machine (I have dreamed about it for two years) and I have purchased some pretty handmades too. I also have the most supportive sister ever (and that gorgeous nephew too) and there´s only three months until Christmas! My next post will be happier, I promise!

Peaceful Sunday!

September already?

...Not quite, yet, but close. August seemed (and felt) very brief, after long and relaxing summer months. I have been busy with work (daily), and there has been a lots of trying with sewing and felting, some celebrations (birthdays) and blogging... nonexistent, really. Sorry.

But to proof that I have finished some this month also, I present:

Some more to come in September, I promise. You can see more of those in my flickr (and some are still in my shop-s).

Have a wonderful Thursday, everyone!

Gone with the wind (and rain)

The last post´s "yippee it´s summer again" was short-lived
even for the Finnish standards. It´s gone already.
Not to worry though, there are many autumny wonders just
around the corner, here´s the first peak!

Now I am off to work, and it rains again *sigh* but you all,
have a great Wednesday!

The summer is here, again

...and it´s wonderful even the holidays are over. I am off to enjoy the very
last free weekend of this summer, and wish you a great one too.

The Busy Bee says HI! to everyone.

Down memory lane

ME: I think we dress like two old bores nowadays...
MY SIS: Yeah right? And what are we then?
ME: No, I mean do you still remember the 90s? We used more accessories...
We had some hats and skirts... I had many fancy bags...I even wore heels!
MS: That was 2001 or so.
ME: Was it?
MS: Yup, in the 90s you only wore black and pink together, and that includes your make-up.
ME: *horrified* No!
MS: Take it from me, pink&black it was.
ME: Thank goddess I do not do that any longer.
MS: Precisely.
...

ME: Look, sis, I got myself a new pair of trainers. They´re fab, dontcha think?

MS: ...

...

Happy Monday, everyone!

Wow

Wow, just look at those! (Oh, I was not supposed to start with that line but could not help myself.) Just look at those!

You, who thrift and go flea markets and charity shops regularly, are familiar with the wow effect. It strikes when something catches you eye, maybe a corner of fabric or just the colors (like on those Smurffs, I just saw one corner, recognized the colors and wow). Your heart starts to beat faster, maybe your hands start to tremble (not to mention moist, even) and you know there´s something just for you. Oh happiness.

In my hometown there are not that many charity shops and they´re quite quickly seen. I try not to visit them too often as I want to be surprised. I constantly dream about the thrifting tours to England, Belgium and even all the way to US but...they´re just dreams. I enjoy (read: love) reading other bloggers stories and finds (and try my best to be genuinely happy for them).

And you, who do not thrift, this is quite hard to explain. Why an old pillowcase or two might make one´s day? My only advise is to go and find out. I guarantee you´ll be surprised. Let me know how, please!

Raindrops are falling... Happy Tuesday!

Old and new-old

I have made quite a few totes of this fabric earlier (and some other stuff too), but still every time I use it, it makes me smile. It´s old and reused alright, but the pictures are just so cute. And on this version (oh yes, I haven´t been using the same fabric, it´s always yet an another piece I manage to get my hands into) there´s my all time favorite Moomin character Sniff and a little view into Moomin Valley, too. Lovely.

The other fabric is a newer find (an old fabric, reused), so it´s a new-old for me. It´s pretty yellow with guaranteed-make-you-smile Moomins who seem to be dancing. I could not be happier for my today´s sewing, and I hope that they will make someone else´s day too. They´ll be in the shop later.

Have a great Sunday!

The shawl

The shawl is finished and it turned out beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice even the model was the very best. This was the only dry minute here today, otherwise it´s been constant rain, so I could not make it into an another photo shoot. So I´ll leave you with these images and my words: it is truly wonderful!

Wonderful weekend, everyone!

P.S. The lovely pattern was from here.

Happy birthday!

My shop turned two today! I joined etsy exactly two
years ago and listed my first items on July 22nd.
Thank you all, you lovely people, who have visited
me during these past two years! It has been great!
Now you, who have not been in there yet,
go and check it out, please, I have a birthday sale on!

Happy birthday to me :)

This time of the year...

Usually around this time, when children go back to school, and you can just about to smell the autumn, I start to dig deeper in my fabric...
